Grandma Camp 2013 (posted by Lorri)

First day of Grandma Camp, we went to the Poovey Ranch.  The Pooveys are long time friends.
Kristy and Adelaide picking strawberries.  I cannot begin to tell you how yummy these tasted.
Adelaide petting Lola, the bucket calf.
Giving Lola a bottle.
Caedmon "driving" the tractor.  Not to worry, the tractor was not running while children were in the drivers seat.
Atticus was doing his best to try and figure out how to make this tractor go.
Liza introducing Adelaide to the horses.

Thanks to the Poovey family for letting us explore your garden, tractors, bucket calf, horses, strawberry patch and everything else.  Liza was a great tour guide.

The next day we went to the Winfield Aquatic Center.  Here is Caedmon on the dragon slide in the preschool pool.
Mark with Caedmon and Adelaide on the alligator.
Hot dogs and s'mores over the firepit in the backyard.  You can just get a glimpse of Caedmon pursuing Ed (our cat) in the background.
The next day we went to Exploration Place in Wichita.  They always enjoy the water table.
Vada and Charlotte joined us for this day.  Here Vada is playing dress up in the preschool area.
Charlotte and Vada playing on the slide.
The whole gang.  Note to self - take the group shot when you get to Exploration Place, not when you are getting ready to leave.  Everyone had a great time.  The next stop, Panera's for lunch.

Then a quick run through Sam's before heading back to Winfield.  Well, as quick as you can with four adults and five children.
Then, everybody left and I took a nap.  I really enjoy seeing all the kids interacting together.

The Weekend of Family; by Sherry

We were lucky enough to have all four of our kids together over Memorial Day weekend this year.  Josh, Laura, Spencer and Caroline drove in Thursday evening, Jeremy arrived Friday noon and Justin made it Friday night.  The boys planned their turkey hunting strategy friday night and got up early Sat. to hunt a few turkeys.  Laura, Jessica, Caroline, Kendall and Gavin went to joplin for our own kind of hunting, shopping!  Jeremy and Josh got their turkeys , three of them on Sat. thanks goodness!  I don't have picture of that,  I was out shopping.  My mom and dad, Kay and Jeff and Jessica's family joined up at Triple S that night for supper.
Sunday morning was spent fishing with my boys.  I don't usually catch any fish when we go fishing.  I don't know why, I used to be able to catch fish.  I fished a lot as a child.  Anyway,  my second cast in the first pond, I caught a channel cat on a bass lure!  But no one was there to see it!  The boys hadn't gotten there yet and PHil was at the truck fixing his pole.  So i took my own picture to prove I had actually caught a fish.  No one else caught a thing at that pond so we went to another.  Justin caught a good size cat fish there and Josh caught some smaller ones.

Justin's catch of the day

See I really did catch a fish!

That night we spent at Jessica's new house for a birthday party.  Sunday was Jeremy's birthday and the coming Wednesday was Jessica's.  The kids swam in the pool while the adults talked and laughed. Nathan cooked some great food and everyone had a great time.

Happy Birthday to Jeremy, Jessica and my BFF Debbie Potter, who shares a birthday with Jeremy!

PHil had to help Jeremy land one of his.
Monday morning we went fishing again, this time with Grandpa and Grandma Von Soosten at their pond.  This time we were fishing for bass.  Grandma, Josh, Phil, and Jeremy caught some fish with Jeremy taking the prize for the most fish.  I tried taking pictures of all the fish we caught, but after a while I got tired of taking Jeremy's picture all the time. He caught 10 before we left that pond!  Next the boys went to the pond down in our pasture.  This time it was Spencer who caught 5 fish, with Justin and Josh catching fish too.
Jeremy and Grandpa weighing one of his fish.

Josh caught a nice one too.

Phil had to be different, catching a small sunfish.

Grandpa and his boys!

Spencer's fish.  Josh cleaned these to eat when they got home.

It was so wonderful to have them all together, it doesn't happen often enough.  We had a great time!  And yes i made some of my famous homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast Monday morning.
By 1:30 p.m everyone was on the road again going home.  While the house was way too quiet, Phil and i had some great memories to keep up company until next time.  Love you all!  mom.
